Endurance athletes are we who are usually doing a training session that lasts longer than 60 minutes, and goes upwards into hours at a time. On average, a triathlete spends 6-25 hours a week training for a race or getting in shape. A non-pro endurance athlete normally doesn’t have extra time during the week for some of the most important types of training that he or she needs to endure longer and longer distances – strength for the entire body and recovery methods to keep the body lose and pain free.

The most important thing I have learned as a life-long athlete (15 or more years competing in triathlon and having completed 9 Ironman races) is that there are a few shortcuts to great races and cutting out strength training is NOT one of them.
